After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Conrado Santana managed to get in a good position for a shot. Inglesa SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Conrado Santana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sydney Cruz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nico Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mané Veiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Naldo Tavares made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luiz Borges in the 31st minute of play forced Inglesa SS's goalkeeper Naldo Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Inglesa SS's Jairo Cearense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sydney Cruz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match clock showed 37 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Nilton Trigo sped through AF São Francisco's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sydney Cruz. A collision led to AF São Francisco getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Hélder Linhares hit a great ball. 44 minutes into the match, Conrado Santana had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sydney Cruz. AF São Francisco's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Conrado Santana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Inglesa SS's Jairo Cearense got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The AF São Francisco players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Inglesa SS were winning 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nilton Trigo to make the kick off. Antônio Carlos Mello charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antônio Carlos Mello the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 56 minutes into the match, AF São Francisco's goal looked a bit too open when Conrado Santana came free, but Sydney Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ademir Luz hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. If Jairo Cearense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilton Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sydney Cruz having to interfere. Mané Veiga's late challenge caught a Inglesa SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mané Veiga helped the player get up and apologised. With a little luck, AF São Francisco's Sydney Cruz got control of the ball when Jairo Cearense tried to sneak it across the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado Santana couldn't finish the play. Inglesa SS's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
