After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Joaquim Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. 20 de Abril's supporters rose to their feet, but Joaquim Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Trigo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Zé Augusto Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Witalis Luty took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrézinho Dante. Andrézinho Dante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Zé Augusto Esteves hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Jorginho Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho Dante having to interfere. Andrézinho Dante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Witalis Luty in the 15th minute of the match. The supporters of Itapinimba booed when 20 de Abril was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Augusto Neiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Zé Augusto Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot. 20 de Abril's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Augusto Paraense was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Trigo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for 20 de Abril. Andrézinho Dante was a little too slow when Marcus Dahlqvist got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 3-0. A collision led to Itapinimba getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Reynaldo Linares hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute, Zé Augusto Paraense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Augusto Paraense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th match minute, 20 de Abril was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélio de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Andrézinho Nascimento scored 4-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Andrézinho Dante, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Joaquim Simões took a quick shot and it went in 5-1 without a chance for Erik Trigo to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to 20 de Abril getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Carlos Augusto Neiva hit a great ball. In the 77th minute, Jorginho Vale ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Andrézinho Dante was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-1. In the 90th match minute, 20 de Abril was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélio de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st minute Andrézinho Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrézinho Dante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nilton Senna's late challenge caught a 20 de Abril's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nilton Senna helped the player get up and apologised. Nilton Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. When Hélio de Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the 20 de Abril fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hélio de Queirós couldn't finish the play. During the 95th minute of the match Nilton Senna completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nilton Senna a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Nilton Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Itapinimba had won after a very even match.
