Walmir Abreu charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Walmir Abreu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Nilson da Costa came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Macena EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nilson da Costa couldn't finish the play. Antônio Dante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Dé Garcia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arthur Cardoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iuri Dionísio, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. A collision led to Macena EC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Zé Prata hit a great ball. After 17 played minutes, Guerreira's Rogério Damião shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arthur Cardoso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Guerreira reached it. In the 23rd match minute, Macena EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Prata to maneuver through the defense. After 24 minutes of play, Guerreira's Sandrinho Seco made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arthur Cardoso was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sandrinho Seco scored 0-2 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arthur Cardoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 34th minute, Iuri Dionísio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arthur Cardoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Dé Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Dante in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Guilherme Cunha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dé Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Dante in the 52nd minute of play. After 56 played minutes, Macena EC's Paulo Renato Britto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dé Garcia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Guilherme Cunha in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dé Garcia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fred Hermes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dé Garcia having to interfere. Dé Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Dante in the 69th minute of play. Arthur Cardoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iuri Dionísio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 72 minutes into the match, Ediberto Negri dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Arthur Cardoso, 1-4. Antônio Dante took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dé Garcia. Dé Garcia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. The supporters of Guerreira booed when Macena EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Prata didn't get a good kick on the ball. 83 minutes into the game, Sandrinho Seco lined in a short shot 2-5 behind a frustrated Arthur Cardoso. After 86 played minutes Guerreira got a freekick which was hit by Iuri Dionísio. Paulo Renato Britto struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Dé Garcia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Macena EC. After 89 played minutes Guerreira got a freekick which was hit by Ediberto Negri. After 93 minutes, Edinho Bezerra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Macena EC and the Guerreira players grew even worse after the yellow card. Edinho Bezerra hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Guerreira were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Macena EC's much stronger midfield.
