Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) flamengo's Lucas da Mata started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lucas da Mata struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Taunay's zone, Rubens Marquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oscar Gerber came out of the goal and Rubens Marquez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adelino Zilles took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edgard Santos. Edgard Santos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Edgard Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Didi Quaresma in the 27th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Tostão de Toledo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rubens Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Oscar Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mazinho de Sena hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Raí Trancoso kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The Taunay players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
