Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Guarani FC's Luiz Fabiano Freire started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Mares was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mané de Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. Vivaldo do Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gildo Lopes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 7th minute, Hugo De Leon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 8th minute, one of Guarani FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Guarani FC. Luiz Fabiano Freire received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Vivaldo do Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 16 minutes of play, Guarani FC's Gildo Lopes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vivaldo do Vale was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 20thth minute of the game Luiz Fabiano Freire who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mares's Vivaldo do Vale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vivaldo do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso de Amaral in the 22nd minute of play. Humberto Jacinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Guarani FC's Manoel Oliveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erasmo Linares in the 27th minute of play. After 30 played minutes Mares got a freekick which was hit by Luís Donato. Dedé Luz struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Vivaldo do Vale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guarani FC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mané de Carvalho during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 32 played minutes Mares got a freekick which was hit by Mané de Carvalho. Guarani FC's Manoel Oliveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Jacinto in the 35th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Guarani FC's goalkeeper Manoel Oliveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto Jacinto. Humberto Jacinto hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Erasmo Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Manoel Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Gildo Lopes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vivaldo do Vale. The goal made the score 1-2. If Sílvio Luís Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute Luiz Fabiano Freire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vivaldo do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan de Queirós's late challenge caught a Mares's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathan de Queirós helped the player get up and apologised. 70 minutes into the match, Sílvio Luís Peixoto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manoel Oliveira. Guarani FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sílvio Luís Peixoto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. In the 76th minute, Sílvio Luís Peixoto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Guarani FC booed when Mares was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humberto Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Fabiano Freire in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vivaldo do Vale prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Guarani FC booed when Mares was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeca Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Mares's Vivaldo do Vale got control of the ball when Gildo Lopes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sílvio Luís Peixoto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Glauco França sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Fabiano Freire got in the 95th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Vivaldo do Vale handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Despite being the better team, Guarani FC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
