When Edu Souza fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Verneque's protests and gave Edu Souza a yellow card for diving instead. Henrique da Mata charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henrique da Mata the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Durvalino Fernandes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vágner Nóbrega read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After 44 played minutes Verneque got a freekick which was hit by Ramón Senna. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Durvalino Fernandes was the one to do the kick off. Vágner Nóbrega showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durvalino Fernandes in the 52nd minute of the match. The supporters of Brava booed when Verneque was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edu Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute, Alfredão Amorim ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vágner Nóbrega was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1.
