In the 17th match minute, Diamantino was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinho Paranaense to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute, Manfredo Esteves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hélder de Mendonça was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. With an all-out effort, Braga SC's Válter Vides threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Edinho Fernandes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Hélder de Mendonça stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manfredo Esteves's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Diamantino's goal looked a bit too open when Edinho Fernandes came free, but Válter Vides reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 31 minutes, Edinho Fernandes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Braga SC and the Diamantino players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Braga SC's Edinho Fernandes got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Hélder de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manfredo Esteves in the 32nd minute of play. Manfredo Esteves scored 0-2 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hélder de Mendonça, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edinho Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Manfredo Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute Manfredo Esteves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélder de Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hélder de Mendonça came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Diamantino's Mazinho Bastos. But to his dismay, Mazinho Bastos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mazinho Bastos to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Braga SC's zone, Manfredo Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder de Mendonça came out of the goal and Manfredo Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Braga SC's Hélder de Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Braga SC from getting a goal against them. Ulysses de Andrade could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Hélder de Mendonça made a huge save. Hélder de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mazinho Bastos, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. When Braga SC's Cássio Campidelis in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Diamantino's goalie prevented a goal. In the 69th minute, Mazinho Bastos reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Hélder de Mendonça. The goal made the score 1-4. Mazinho Bastos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hélder de Mendonça read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Tarcisio Miranda got his second yellow card in the match during the 74th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Diamantino getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Tarcisio Miranda hit a great ball. In the 79th minute, Robinho Ribeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manfredo Esteves might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hélder de Mendonça. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Manfredo Esteves ran back to his position shaking his head. Manfredo Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Cássio Campidelis put it in 2-4 from a short distance just to the right of Válter Vides. Manfredo Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
