The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Cauã Domingues's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodriguinho de Barros was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. João Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodriguinho de Barros having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Los Gaiatos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dráusio Amorim came free, but Flávio Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Dende EC's Rony Luz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flávio Monteiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dende EC's Benjamim Faria pulled a muscle in his leg after 24 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 24 minutes, Iuri de Carvalho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Los Gaiatos FC and the Dende EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 25 played minutes Los Gaiatos FC got a freekick which was hit by Iuri de Carvalho. Flávio Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rony Luz in the 29th minute of play. Dende EC's Dráusio Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jarbas Loureiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Flávio Monteiro having to make a save. If Rony Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rony Luz to strike the kick off in the second half. Rony Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flávio Monteiro having to interfere. João Antunes struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Rodriguinho de Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Gaiatos FC. Cauã Domingues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Rodriguinho de Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dende EC's Rodriguinho de Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Antunes in the 67th minute of play. When Dráusio Amorim came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Dende EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dráusio Amorim couldn't finish the play. Albertinho Mineiro scored 2-2 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flávio Monteiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rony Luz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Flávio Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Los Gaiatos FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rony Luz fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Rodriguinho de Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luisão Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
