The referee ignored Muquy's protests and gave Manfredo Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Muquy getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Manfredo Nascimento hit a great ball. Osmar Ribeiro's late challenge caught a Lindolfo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Osmar Ribeiro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 9th match minute, Muquy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osmar Ribeiro to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquim Luz in the 10th minute of play forced Muquy's goalkeeper Jonas Borges to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 14 played minutes Manfredo Nascimento rounded Lindolfo's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. Charles Peixoto's shot from long distance in the 20th minute was not bad at all, but Lindolfo's Antônio Pena knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. After a rather tough play, Muquy's Hélio Goiano got a free kick in the 24th minute. Antônio Pena made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Afonso Valladares sent off a good shot on target. 40 minutes into the match, Lindolfo's Joaquim Luz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonas Borges narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Manfredo Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joaquim Luz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Jaime Aguiar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lindolfo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 54th minute, Walmir Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute Afonso Valladares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Afonso Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Pena having to interfere. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lindolfo's goalkeeper Antônio Pena, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 88 played minutes, Muquy's Ulysses Severo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Antônio Pena came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Muquy reached it. After having played for 95 minutes, Hélio Goiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Muquy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélio Goiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Muquy's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
