Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cléber Sergipano started the match with the kick off. Juarês Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Almeida having to interfere. In the 6th minute Hugo Paranaense suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Jacinto Dionísio charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jacinto Dionísio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Scorpion EC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Jacinto Dionísio hit a great ball. Luiz Fábio Baptista succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 8th playminute. In the 15th minute, Luiz Fábio Baptista fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sílvio Almeida, passed just outside the right post. After a rather tough play, Guavira's Clemente da Costa got a free kick in the 18th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Cléber Sergipano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Scorpion EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cléber Sergipano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Téo Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Scorpion EC's Sílvio Almeida got control of the ball when Luiz Fábio Baptista tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 26 minutes, Walmyr Berger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Scorpion EC and the Guavira players grew even worse after the yellow card. One of Scorpion EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Guavira:s goal. If Luiz Fábio Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Clemente da Costa came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Guavira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente da Costa couldn't finish the play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Fábio Baptista to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Fábio Baptista in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sílvio Almeida prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luiz Fábio Baptista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Scorpion EC's Sílvio Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clemente da Costa in the 72nd minute of play. Juarês Pitta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Scorpion EC's Sidnei Couto got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Scorpion EC booed when Guavira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iuri Novaes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cléber Sergipano was extremely unlucky when he, in the 96th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Guavira had played much better football throughout.
