Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bernardinho Romero hit a great ball. When Donato Neves came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Castro Alves FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donato Neves couldn't finish the play. In the 10th minute, Ernesto Paiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute, Vivaldo de Castro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Simão Zilles was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Vivaldo de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Zilles having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Nando Vidal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Simão Zilles was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Decana's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nando Vidal was slow to take the kick. During this time Castro Alves FC's players had a chance to rest. After 26 minutes, Arí Garcia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Castro Alves FC and the Decana players grew even worse after the yellow card. Arí Garcia kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Vivaldo de Castro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Simão Zilles. Decana's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vivaldo de Castro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Simão Zilles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo de Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sabino Donato made a kick off. Castro Alves FC's Jorginho de Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráusio Rodrigues in the 59th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Valdomiro Tróia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castro Alves FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdomiro Tróia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simão Zilles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Decana's zone, Vivaldo de Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Zilles came out of the goal and Vivaldo de Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 91st match minute, Decana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cido Trigo to maneuver through the defense. 99 minutes into the game, Decana's Sabino Donato nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jorginho de Toledo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-8. The Castro Alves FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
