Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reynaldo Favoretto to make the kick off. After 54 minutes of play, Apucarana SC's Egídio Brodel made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlos Augusto Salgado was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Reynaldo Favoretto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Egídio Brodel hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Geovanni Lopes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Virgílio Freire made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geovanni Lopes got free with Virgílio Freire in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Apucarana SC's Egídio Brodel got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 75th minute, Jean Melo fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Virgílio Freire was a little too slow when Geovanni Lopes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 76th minute. The score was now 1-3. A collision led to Apucarana SC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Andrézinho Faustino hit a great ball. After having played for 80 minutes, Geovanni Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmeiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geovanni Lopes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Palmeiras's Geovanni Lopes was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 83rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. João Adolfo Barreto struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Virgílio Freire didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palmeiras. Virgílio Freire came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by Palmeiras's João Adolfo Barreto. But to his dismay, João Adolfo Barreto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. Apucarana SC's Virgílio Freire proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Apucarana SC from getting a goal against them. With his leg Virgílio Freire managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Palmeiras's Geovanni Lopes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Jean Melo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Palmeiras played a much better game than Apucarana SC and deserved their victory. The Apucarana SC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
