Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ipauanema SS's Leonardo Matorin started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hílton de Sena during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 2 played minutes Ipauanema SS got a freekick which was hit by Hílton de Sena. Laércio de Souza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sidney Teixeira in the 6th minute. Laércio de Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo Matorin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute Gernando Mumbach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Donato Salgado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Laércio de Souza having to make a save. When Josué Borges came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Ipauanema SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Josué Borges couldn't finish the play. Arthur Moreno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Virgílio Falcão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Leonardo Matorin sped through Itanhandu's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Laércio de Souza. The supporters of Ipauanema SS booed when Itanhandu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fernando Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leonardo Matorin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Laércio de Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 41 minutes, Sidney Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ipauanema SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sidney Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 42nd minute, Hílton de Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Virgílio Falcão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gernando Mumbach's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Sidney Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gernando Mumbach stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Laércio de Souza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sidney Teixeira went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidney Teixeira in the 60th minute of play forced Itanhandu's goalkeeper Laércio de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Itanhandu's goal looked a bit too open when Sidney Teixeira came free, but Laércio de Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 71 minutes Itanhandu's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hílton de Sena who took care of the corner kick. Hílton de Sena made a great header on Ipauanema SS's corner, it was just that Itanhandu's Laércio de Souza managed to reach the ball for a save. Laércio de Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Teixeira in the 78th minute of play. Gilmar Santos scored 3-0 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Laércio de Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Ipauanema SS had won after a very even match.
