The crowd rose to their feet as Sport Clube Corinthians's Sílvio Luís Valle slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Douglas da Cunha. That made the score 1-0 after 13 minutes of play. Jan-Ove Bennet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrício Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sport Clube Corinthians's Gildo Nunes got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Sílvio Luís Valle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Douglas da Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Luís Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Sport Clube Corinthians's Douglas da Cunha threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sílvio Luís Valle, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Hermínio Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. If Gildo Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Patrício Simões to strike the kick off in the second half. Patrício Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gildo Nunes hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Canto's zone, Gildo Nunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Douglas da Cunha came out of the goal and Gildo Nunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Duda Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Ove Bennet having to interfere. If Duda Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Canto's Patrício Simões in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sport Clube Corinthians's goalie prevented a goal. Vinícius Braga was extremely unlucky when he, in the 77th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Célio Velloso hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute, Canto's Patrício Simões ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jan-Ove Bennet. Jan-Ove Bennet yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sport Clube Corinthians had won after a very even match.
