Rubens de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício do Nascimento having to interfere. When Nicolas Freire fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nictheroi's protests and gave Nicolas Freire a yellow card for diving instead. After 13 played minutes Nictheroi got a freekick which was hit by Nicolas Freire. Rodriguinho Cabral took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 15th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Kléber Schmidt. Nictheroi's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 20 minutes Nictheroi's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Rodriguinho Cabral who took care of the corner kick. In the 22nd minute Inácio Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléber Schmidt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabrício do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubens de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. André Luiz Saraiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Fabrício do Nascimento made a huge save. If Rubens de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute, Samuca Vasconcelos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kléber Schmidt was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After having played for 43 minutes, Rubens de Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nictheroi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubens de Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Samuca Vasconcelos was the one to do the kick off. Inácio Severo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Kléber Schmidt skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Inácio Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kléber Schmidt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuca Vasconcelos in the 62nd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Nictheroi's goal looked a bit too open when Samuca Vasconcelos came free, but Kléber Schmidt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Valdemar Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nictheroi's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdemar Neves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrício do Nascimento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rubens de Medeiros in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fabrício do Nascimento prevented the ball from getting in the gole. André Luiz Saraiva struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Fabrício do Nascimento didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nictheroi. In the 75th minute, Valdemar Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Inácio Severo came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Morere fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Inácio Severo couldn't finish the play. 79 minutes into the match, Morere's Rodriguinho Cabral broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Inácio Severo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléber Schmidt having to interfere. Samuca Vasconcelos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Kléber Schmidt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Nictheroi's zone, Samuca Vasconcelos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléber Schmidt came out of the goal and Samuca Vasconcelos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kléber Schmidt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuca Vasconcelos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Inácio Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Kléber Schmidt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Morere players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
