In the 5th minute, AMERICA's Osmar do Valle dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Osmar do Valle struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Durval Zilles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AMERICA. Santos City's Durval Zilles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Santos City from getting a goal against them. The supporters of AMERICA booed when Santos City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renato Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Luiz Bittencourt kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amador Pietro in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Durval Zilles saved Santos City from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Santos City's Renato Arósio got a free kick in the 25th minute. João Augusto Messias's late challenge caught a AMERICA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Augusto Messias helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Santos City getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. João Augusto Messias hit a great ball. 41 minutes into the match, Santos City's goalkeeper Durval Zilles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adalmo de Queirós. With a little luck, Santos City's Durval Zilles got control of the ball when Adalmo de Queirós tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an all-out effort, AMERICA's Durval Zilles threw himself towards the right post 47 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Amador Pietro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Durval Zilles successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Augusto Messias to make the kick off. A collision led to AMERICA getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Dino Schmidt hit a great ball. After 55 played minutes, Santos City's Renato Arósio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Yan Nascimento came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Santos City reached it. Durval Zilles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amador Pietro in the 57th minute of play. Santos City's Durval Zilles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adalmo de Queirós in the 59th minute of play. In the 65th minute Amador Pietro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Zilles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adelino de Toledo kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Santos City's Durval Zilles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ayrton Senna in the 67th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Santos City's goal looked a bit too open when Gilson Santana came free, but Durval Zilles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
