But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dinei J.J. couldn't finish the play. Wilton Pereira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinei J.J., who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. In the 10th minute Geovânio Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilton Pereira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandro Vieira hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Wilton Pereira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramón Dionísio in the 20th minute of play. With a little luck, Varginha Futebol Clube's Samir Hennequin got control of the ball when Agnaldo Dantas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dinei J.J. fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilton Pereira having to interfere. In the 28th minute of the match, Sandro Vieira tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Samir Hennequin saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Wilton Pereira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulo José de Lara went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 34th minute, Luizão Peixoto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Varginha Futebol Clube's Wilian Custódio got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 45th match minute, Viracao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olavo Santos to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ramón Dionísio made the kick off in the second half. Dinei J.J. came free with the goalkeeper in the 52nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Wilton Pereira could save by the left post. If Paulo José de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 54 minutes into the game, Paulão Siqueira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Viracao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varginha Futebol Clube the free kick. Paulão Siqueira hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute, Olavo Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 58 minutes in the game, Ramón Dionísio fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Wilton Pereira having to interfere. If Sandro Vieira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th play minute Dinei J.J. came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Wilton Pereira. 0-2. Wilton Pereira made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Dinei J.J. sent off a good shot on target. 0-3 became the score in the 82nd minute when Dinei J.J. elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Ramón Dionísio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilton Pereira was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Samir Hennequin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizão Peixoto in the 89th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ramón Dionísio got free with Wilton Pereira in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Luizão Peixoto fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Viracao's protests and gave Luizão Peixoto a yellow card for diving instead. Luizão Peixoto kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. When the match was over Varginha Futebol Clube could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Viracao throughout the match.
