Meditacao EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adolfo Maranhense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Alberto Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. André Luiz Eger's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 15thth minute, Nuno Ramos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Adolfo Maranhense came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Meditacao EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adolfo Maranhense couldn't finish the play. In the 21st minute, Adolfo Maranhense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Meditacao EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Meditacao EC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Sydney Pena hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Donato in the 27th minute of play forced Goias's goalkeeper Juvenal Teles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Adolfo Maranhense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juvenal Teles was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Sydney Pena struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Juvenal Teles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Meditacao EC. Juvenal Teles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Donato, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the match, André Luiz Eger notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Meditacao EC's Nuno Ramos. Nuno Ramos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Goias's Juvenal Teles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Goias from getting a goal against them. Juvenal Teles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto Donato went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Meditacao EC's zone, André Luiz Eger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuno Ramos came out of the goal and André Luiz Eger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Amauri da Cunha's late challenge caught a Meditacao EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amauri da Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Goias's Amauri da Cunha got a free kick in the 74th minute. An unexpected shot in the 75th minute by Adolfo Maranhense got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 76th match minute, Goias was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ian Favoretto to maneuver through the defense. Alberto Donato recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Goias getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Dário Albuquerque hit a great ball. Adolfo Maranhense succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-4 in the 89th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Lara in the 95th minute of play forced Meditacao EC's goalkeeper Nuno Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Charles Lago during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 96th match minute, Meditacao EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charles Lago to maneuver through the defense. When the match was over Meditacao EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Goias throughout the match.
