Remo Carneiro dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. When Aluísio Mendonça came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Macinha EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aluísio Mendonça couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Urubucu's zone, Aluísio Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafael de Andrade came out of the goal and Aluísio Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Remo Carneiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aluísio Mendonça struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Rafael de Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Macinha EC. When Aluísio Mendonça came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Macinha EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aluísio Mendonça couldn't finish the play. 17 minutes into the game, Nestor Vianna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Macinha EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Urubucu the free kick. The supporters of Urubucu booed when Macinha EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Vianna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Urubucu's Artur da Mata shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 18th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Rui Pinho but with some difficulty. In the 20th minute, Zé Roberto Aparecido had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. During the 20th minute of the match Nestor Vianna completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nestor Vianna a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 21 played minutes Macinha EC got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Vianna. Rafael de Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aluísio Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eriberto Cerezo during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Geovanni Rezende's late challenge caught a Macinha EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Urubucu's Rafael de Andrade proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Urubucu from getting a goal against them. When the match was over Macinha EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Urubucu throughout the match.
