The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Elói Zanette was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Melancias's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iauacana the free kick. A collision led to Melancias getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Elói Zanette hit a great ball. Gláuber Massa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Percy da Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Iauacana's Gláuber Massa in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Melancias's goalie prevented a goal. Carlos Alberto Albuquerque's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anselmo Esteves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. If Sidney Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15thth minute of the game Gláuber Massa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Melancias's Percy da Costa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Melancias's Percy da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gláuber Massa in the 19th minute of play. Adelino Arantes charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adelino Arantes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Adelino Arantes hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Percy da Costa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Iauacana's Inácio Lopes got a free kick in the 31st minute. After 35 played minutes Melancias got a freekick which was hit by Paulão Godoi. Anselmo Esteves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Melancias's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
