After a defensive mix-up in MADMAX's zone, Davi Tavares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ben Van den Bergh came out of the goal and Davi Tavares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Alberto Ribeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Witomir Lewkowicz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cafu da Fonseca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. MADMAX's Ben Van den Bergh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davi Tavares in the 52nd minute of play. Eduardo Pereira kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. If Witomir Lewkowicz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. Carlos Alberto Ribeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cafu da Fonseca in the 92nd minute of the match. MADMAX's Cafu da Fonseca got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the match, Jørgen Torset notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Flamengo's Carlos Alberto Ribeiro. Carlos Alberto Ribeiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
