Gildo Saraiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Loureiro having to interfere. Imbiacaba's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Davi Mello 14 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. In the 21st minute, Gildo Saraiva made a precise shot to the right of Zé Roberto Loureiro. Tabajara's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. A collision led to Tabajara getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Luís Fábio Freire hit a great ball. Gildo Saraiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 30 minutes into the match, Tabajara's goal looked a bit too open when Gildo Saraiva came free, but Zé Roberto Loureiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Imbiacaba booed when Tabajara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaltino Recife didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute of the match Eugênio Montenegro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zé Roberto Loureiro skillfully saved the ball. Juan Alves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Zé Roberto Loureiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Roberto Loureiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gildo Saraiva went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After the first half Imbiacaba were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Juan Alves to make the kick off. Gildo Saraiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Zé Roberto Loureiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Davi Mello in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aírton Trancoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edgar Lopes hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Zé Roberto Loureiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Alves in the 62nd minute of play. If Davi Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aírton Trancoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Davi Mello's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute Juan Alves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Loureiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Edgar Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Tabajara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgar Lopes couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Imbiacaba getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Valdomiro Quintal hit a great ball. 86 minutes into the match, Tabajara's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Loureiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gildo Saraiva. Imbiacaba's Aírton Trancoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davi Mello in the 87th minute of play. Davi Mello might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aírton Trancoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Davi Mello ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Imbiacaba eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
