Waldir Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 袁天翀 in the 4th minute of play. Leopoldo de Queirós's late challenge caught a Independente AC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leopoldo de Queirós helped the player get up and apologised. If 袁天翀 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nildo Valle hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charles Pinho in the 12th minute of play forced Independente AC's goalkeeper Falcão do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute Clayton Gøl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Roger Vinhas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Falcão do Nascimento. The goal made the score 1-0. After 21 played minutes Independente AC got a freekick which was hit by Roch Joks. Soberanos FC's Waldir Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clayton Gøl in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Vinhas in the 30th minute of play forced Independente AC's goalkeeper Falcão do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Roberto Ceresso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Falcão do Nascimento having to interfere. Roger Vinhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Falcão do Nascimento having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Independente AC's goalkeeper Falcão do Nascimento had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Roberto Ceresso. 42 minutes into the match, Independente AC's goal looked a bit too open when Roger Vinhas came free, but Falcão do Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Waldir Dias came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Independente AC's 袁天翀. But to his dismay, 袁天翀 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After 51 minutes, Zé Roberto Ceresso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Soberanos FC and the Independente AC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 52nd match minute, Soberanos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Roberto Ceresso to maneuver through the defense. When Independente AC's Clayton Gøl in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Soberanos FC's goalie prevented a goal. Falcão do Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Roberto Ceresso in the 54th minute of play. After having played for 56 minutes, Clayton Gøl managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente AC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Clayton Gøl was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 57 minutes of play, Soberanos FC's Zé Roberto Ceresso made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Falcão do Nascimento was left in no man's land by his defense there! Don Bigotte charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Don Bigotte the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 68 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Independente AC! When Zé Roberto Ceresso came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Soberanos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Roberto Ceresso couldn't finish the play. Roger Vinhas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Independente AC defense, Roger Vinhas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Falcão do Nascimento. The Independente AC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Falcão do Nascimento should have stopped the shot. 86 minutes into the match, Independente AC's goal looked a bit too open when Roger Vinhas came free, but Falcão do Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Independente AC's zone, Roger Vinhas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Falcão do Nascimento came out of the goal and Roger Vinhas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Roger Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Soberanos FC had played much better football throughout.
