Jairo Souto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílton Mello in the 3rd minute of the match. After 7 played minutes Carnaubal FC got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Eduardo Lira. In the 10th minute Léo Velloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Umberto do Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Carnaubal FC's zone, Benjamim Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Umberto do Nascimento came out of the goal and Benjamim Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caiuba AD's Jairo Souto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Délio Arósio in the 21st minute of play. Pedro Marquez kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amílton Mello in the 23rd minute of play forced Caiuba AD's goalkeeper Jairo Souto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Eduardo Lira hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Léo Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Umberto do Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute, Luiz Eduardo Lira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Carnaubal FC! In the 35th match minute, Carnaubal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Léo Velloso in the 39th minute of play forced Carnaubal FC's goalkeeper Umberto do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Léo Velloso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Umberto do Nascimento was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Jairo Souto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Délio Arósio, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Délio Arósio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jairo Souto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edgar Sarmento in the 58th minute. Léo Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 65 minutes into the match, Caiuba AD's goalkeeper Jairo Souto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Amílton Mello. Caiuba AD were furious when Kaká Bueno was red carded, 67 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 66th minute of the game. One of Caiuba AD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Carnaubal FC:s goal. Jairo Souto came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Carnaubal FC's Tony Corrêa. But to his dismay, Tony Corrêa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Léo Velloso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Amílton Mello kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jairo Souto. That made the score 1-3 in the 75 minute of play. With an all-out effort, Carnaubal FC's Jairo Souto threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Délio Arósio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Pedro Marquez kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Josué Cardozo in the 82nd minute of play forced Caiuba AD's goalkeeper Jairo Souto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Léo Velloso got in the 92nd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Umberto do Nascimento handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The Carnaubal FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Carnaubal FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
