José Carlos Fonseca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 7th minute Nando Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Fernandes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 8th minute, Nuno Bittencourt ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Carlos Fonseca was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. If Hernani Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 15 minutes into the match, Fernão Teles dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of José Carlos Fonseca, 3-0. Nuno Bittencourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Carlos Fonseca having to interfere. Fernão Teles blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without José Carlos Fonseca having to make a save. Nando Silveira hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Fernão Teles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of José Carlos Fonseca when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Salvaterra EC's José Carlos Fonseca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Salvaterra EC from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Salvaterra EC's zone, Fernão Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Carlos Fonseca came out of the goal and Fernão Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nuno Bittencourt was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Fernão Teles left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sprinters Futebol Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. If Nilson Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nestor Berger took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Carlos Fonseca. José Carlos Fonseca dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Salvaterra EC's José Carlos Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elano da Fonseca in the 61st minute of play. Vágner Ramalho kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Fernão Teles advanced and headed the ball into goal, 6-0 in the 65th minute. José Carlos Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernão Teles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sprinters Futebol Clube made a substitution. Diego Mineiro replaced Nuno Bittencourt. 74 minutes into the game, Ricardo Vieira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Salvaterra EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sprinters Futebol Clube the free kick. After 74 played minutes Salvaterra EC got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Vieira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Mineiro in the 79th minute of play forced Salvaterra EC's goalkeeper José Carlos Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sprinters Futebol Clube's Fernão Teles got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sprinters Futebol Clube booed when Salvaterra EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio de Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Salvaterra EC's zone, Diego Mineiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Carlos Fonseca came out of the goal and Diego Mineiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Nilson Motta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sprinters Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilson Motta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Carlos Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 93 minutes into the game, Hernani Pena cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-1. Marco Fernandes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice moves Hernani Pena could shoot a difficult shot in the 96th minute, which Marco Fernandes however easily saved by the left post. Sprinters Futebol Clube's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
