The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tapiara's Fábio Antunes got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Fábio Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 21 minutes, Vágner Netto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galáticos Paulista S.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Vágner Netto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 24th minute, Fábio Antunes made a precise shot to the right of Paulo Renato Salles. Galáticos Paulista S.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. 28 minutes into the match, Tapiara's goal looked a bit too open when Vágner Netto came free, but Frédson Maciel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vágner Netto was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute Vágner Netto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frédson Maciel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo Renato Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualter de Medeiros in the 60th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Galáticos Paulista S.C.'s Erivaldo Ceresso got a free kick in the 61st minute. Frédson Maciel made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Wágner Rodrigues sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Galáticos Paulista S.C.'s zone, Gualter de Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Renato Salles came out of the goal and Gualter de Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fábio Antunes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Renato Salles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Fábio Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Paulo Renato Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tapiara's defense didn't have a chance, in the 76th minute, when Vágner Netto scored to the left of an out of position Frédson Maciel, making the score, 3-2. Gualter de Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fábio Antunes struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. When the referee ended the match the Tapiara players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
