Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Sérgio Cardozo got the match started through his kick off. Flavinho Recife received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Osvaldinho Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sérgio Cardozo in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcus Torres saved AAAEC from getting behind. Osvaldinho Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavinho Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. If Fausto Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute, Fausto Maranhense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fausto Maranhense got free with Marcus Torres in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to AAAEC getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Flavinho Recife hit a great ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Flavinho Recife to make the kick off. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Gramado SC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
