An unexpectedly hard shot by João Adolfo Tavares in the 45th minute of play forced Juparana's goalkeeper Serginho Rosado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Juparana booed when Maniva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silas Lopez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vivaldo Correia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tony Guerra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
