Conrado Seco came out of the goal and Jonas Viana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Conrado Seco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcinho Veiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11thth minute of the game Eduardo Leal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Imperatriz's Renato Salles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Licarco Ferro EC booed when Imperatriz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enéas Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zézinho Zanette during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 14 played minutes Imperatriz got a freekick which was hit by Zézinho Zanette. When Zézinho Zanette was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 18 minutes had been played. After 19 played minutes Imperatriz got a freekick which was hit by Zézinho Zanette. In the 20th minute of the match Valdemar Barral sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Renato Salles skillfully saved the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Imperatriz's goalkeeper Renato Salles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adilson Maciel. In the 29th minute, Adilson Maciel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eduardo Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The tension between the Licarco Ferro EC and the Imperatriz players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Imperatriz booed when Licarco Ferro EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruninho de Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Conrado Seco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonas Viana, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After some careless play in the Licarco Ferro EC defense, Jonas Viana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Conrado Seco. The Licarco Ferro EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Conrado Seco should have stopped the shot. After the first half Imperatriz were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eduardo Leal to make the kick off. When Eduardo Leal came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Licarco Ferro EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eduardo Leal couldn't finish the play. In the 61st minute Adilson Maciel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eduardo Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Renato Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 65 minutes of play, Licarco Ferro EC's Adilson Maciel made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Renato Salles was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 68th match minute, Imperatriz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcinho Veiga to maneuver through the defense. In the 69th minute, Valdemar Barral sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Imperatriz's Renato Salles didn't even have to move. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adilson Maciel in the 71st minute of play forced Imperatriz's goalkeeper Renato Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Eduardo Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Imperatriz's goalkeeper Renato Salles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 81 minutes into the match, Licarco Ferro EC's Eduardo Leal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Renato Salles narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd minute, Bruninho de Salles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Renato Salles was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Renato Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adilson Maciel in the 92nd minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Imperatriz's goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Leal came free, but Renato Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Licarco Ferro EC's Eduardo Leal got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eduardo Leal in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Renato Salles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Imperatriz succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Licarco Ferro EC had controlled the match.
