Wanderson Meira hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Geraldo Santos from long distance, 19 minutes into the match, got Glauco Figueiredo's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 20thth minute of the game Emílio Proença who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Corintho's Glauco Figueiredo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Antônio Carlos Marques charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antônio Carlos Marques the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Corintho getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emílio Proença stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
