Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Roberto Pimenta kicked off to start the match. Dito Leite charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dito Leite the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 9 played minutes Sport Recife got a freekick which was hit by Dito Leite. Manfredo Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Renatinho Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in VARGEM ALEGRE F.C's zone, Betinho Pombal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Salgado came out of the goal and Betinho Pombal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manfredo Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 17 minutes into the match, VARGEM ALEGRE F.C's goalkeeper Simão Salgado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joaquim Pirani. Eliseu Paiva received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Simão Salgado came out and tried to block the shot, but Eliseu Paiva slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 18th minute. Fellipe Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Salgado having to interfere. Sport Recife's Renatinho Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Roberto Putchenko in the 25th minute of play. After 27 played minutes VARGEM ALEGRE F.C got a freekick which was hit by Takis Chatzis. 32 minutes into the match, Inácio Mangueira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Renatinho Recife. Sport Recife's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Inácio Mangueira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. If Manfredo Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes in the game, Joaquim Pirani fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Simão Salgado having to interfere. After 42 played minutes VARGEM ALEGRE F.C got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Pimenta. After the first half VARGEM ALEGRE F.C were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Betinho Pombal to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Sport Recife's Betinho Pombal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Simão Salgado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Roberto Pimenta who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 56thth minute tested the skills of Renatinho Recife when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 60 played minutes VARGEM ALEGRE F.C got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Mangueira. After having played for 62 minutes, Roberto Pimenta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VARGEM ALEGRE F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roberto Pimenta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. VARGEM ALEGRE F.C's Simão Salgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Pirani in the 68th minute of play. A hard shot 69 in the game by Roberto Pimenta from a close distance when the talented Renatinho Recife managed to make a qualified save. Sport Recife's players were relieved. Simão Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fellipe Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd match minute, VARGEM ALEGRE F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovani Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. Simão Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Pirani in the 74th minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, VARGEM ALEGRE F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Fellipe Jacinto came free, but Simão Salgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Renatinho Recife was out of position in the 78 minute of play, and Roberto Pimenta capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Roberto Pimenta really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. Fellipe Jacinto kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Roberto Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simão Salgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betinho Pombal, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Simão Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Betinho Pombal in the 91st minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Roberto Pimenta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of VARGEM ALEGRE F.C booed when Sport Recife was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseu Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over VARGEM ALEGRE F.C could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sport Recife throughout the match.
