Nelson Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Velasco in the 5th minute of the match. Tocantinia EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Matorin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 11th match minute, Tocantinia EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mauro Velasco to maneuver through the defense. Real Madri ES's Nelson Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Negri in the 13th minute of play. After having played for 14 minutes, Igor Negri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tocantinia EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Igor Negri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Juan Andrade's late challenge caught a Tocantinia EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Andrade helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Tocantinia EC booed when Real Madri ES was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Real Madri ES defense, Igor Negri kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nelson Lopes. The Real Madri ES fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nelson Lopes should have stopped the shot. When Tiago do Valle came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Real Madri ES fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tiago do Valle couldn't finish the play. If Mauro Velasco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jaime Andrade blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nelson Lopes having to make a save. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mauro Velasco to make the kick off. Afonso Matorin struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Afonso Matorin scored 0-5 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nelson Lopes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mauro Velasco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mauro Velasco was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 76th minute. Tocantinia EC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronaldinho Barbosa during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ronaldinho Barbosa hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. When Jeremias de Lara came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Tocantinia EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeremias de Lara couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute, Rafinha de Senna fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Nelson Lopes, passed just outside the right post. If Afonso Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With splendid footwork Mauro Velasco arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-8 by the left pole in the game's 96th minute. When the match was over Tocantinia EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Real Madri ES throughout the match.
