Spectators: 6660 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Décio Cearense started the match with the kick off. After 5 played minutes Fênix Negra got a freekick which was hit by Maurício Sarmento. Luisão Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reinaldo Toledo having to interfere. Carlos Santana kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 9th minute Fábio Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abelardo Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Carvalho having to interfere. In the 14th minute of the match, Décio Cearense tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Reinaldo Toledo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fausto Marquez got free with Reinaldo Toledo in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 17 minutes of play, Fênix Negra's Zé Augusto Eger made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Afonso Carvalho was left in no man's land by his defense there! Fábio Maia hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Reinaldo Toledo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Décio Cearense in the 27th minute of play. Luisão Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reinaldo Toledo having to interfere. When Décio Cearense came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Badalo EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Décio Cearense couldn't finish the play. 39 minutes into the match, Abelardo Fonseca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Afonso Carvalho. Badalo EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abelardo Fonseca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. If Fábio Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abelardo Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zé Augusto Eger was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Décio Cearense in the 52nd minute of play forced Fênix Negra's goalkeeper Reinaldo Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Fábio Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Badalo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Décio Cearense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
