In the 22nd minute Elói Tavares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elói Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elói Tavares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elói Castro having to interfere. Jano Damião's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elói Castro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 42nd match minute, Leão da Paulista was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelo Vander to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Jano Damião in the 95th minute of play forced Leão da Paulista's goalkeeper Elói Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
