After having played for 13 minutes, Sílvio Luís Prata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Viegas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Luís Prata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 15th minute, Caratatiua SC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gerson Saraiva fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Víktor Guerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean Félix in the 17th minute of play. Deivid Eger charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Deivid Eger the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Caratatiua SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! Víktor Guerra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gerson Saraiva in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adelino das Neves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Víktor Guerra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juninho Paiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. The Viegas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Viegas's Víktor Guerra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Viegas from getting a goal against them. Although Viegas had been in control for most of the match, Caratatiua SC still came away with the win.
