In the 19th minute Franklin Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Karu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Cassange FC defense, José Maria Arósio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dadá Ribeiro. The Cassange FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dadá Ribeiro should have stopped the shot. After the first half FC Leões were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Maria Arósio to make the kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Isaltino de Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Leões's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isaltino de Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 63rd match minute, Cassange FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Paulo Vander to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, FC Leões's Cléberson Leite tried to score from far away in the 64th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. José Maria Arósio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Dadá Ribeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Isaltino de Senas short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Dadá Ribeiro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 69th minute, Isaltino de Sena left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Leões fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 74th minute, FC Leões's Carlos Montenegro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. Isaltino de Sena could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Dadá Ribeiro made a huge save. Cassange FC's Dadá Ribeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria Arósio in the 80th minute of play. Antônio Carlos Valladares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mattias Karu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Maria Arósio in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dadá Ribeiro saved Cassange FC from getting behind. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dadá Ribeiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dadá Ribeiro came out of the goal and Isaltino de Sena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
