The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Cesinha Macedo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Liberteide FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ruy Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Sarmento, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Itumbiarense F C's goal looked a bit too open when Cesinha Macedo came free, but Ruy Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Itumbiarense F C's zone, Cesinha Macedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruy Fernandez came out of the goal and Cesinha Macedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Cesinha Macedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ruy Fernandez was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. With 19 minutes on the clock, Sílvio Luís Lopes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Itumbiarense F C's Ruy Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Vander in the 21st minute of play. Ruy Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesinha Macedo in the 22nd minute of play. The Liberteide FC fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Liberteide FC's Cesinha Macedo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Cleiton Galvão managed to get in a good position for a shot. If Cesinha Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 42 minutes of play, Liberteide FC's Genílson Schmidt made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruy Fernandez was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gernando Ramalho hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The wind increased when Cesinha Macedo made the kick off in the second half. Genílson Schmidt struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Ruy Fernandez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liberteide FC. After having played for 54 minutes, Cesinha Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liberteide FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cesinha Macedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Itumbiarense F C's Ruy Fernandez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Itumbiarense F C from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Itumbiarense F C's zone, Cesinha Macedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruy Fernandez came out of the goal and Cesinha Macedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cesinha Macedo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Ruy Fernandez when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jorginho Palmeira during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ruy Fernandez made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Cesinha Macedo sent off a good shot on target. Cesinha Macedo struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Ruy Fernandez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liberteide FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Carlos Andrade in the 72nd minute of play forced Itumbiarense F C's goalkeeper Ruy Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75thth minute of the game Cesinha Macedo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itumbiarense F C's Ruy Fernandez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Itumbiarense F C getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Jairo Mesquita hit a great ball. Cesinha Macedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ruy Fernandez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vítor Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 84 played minutes Itumbiarense F C got a freekick which was hit by Zé Pedro Nascimento. A hard shot 88 in the game by Cesinha Macedo from a close distance when the talented Ruy Fernandez managed to make a qualified save. Itumbiarense F C's players were relieved. Zé Carlos Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cesinha Macedo let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 96th minute shot 0-5 at rihgt post.
