Christian Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório Travassos in the 24th minute of play. Christian Dias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lino Moreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Gilmar Quintal fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canto EC's protests and gave Gilmar Quintal a yellow card for diving instead. Gilmar Quintal hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Romário Bittencourt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dagoberto Mattos went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Dagoberto Mattos might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romário Bittencourt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
