Clemente Berger came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Cotinguiba Esporte Clube's Woraphod Pirunkunakorn. But to his dismay, Woraphod Pirunkunakorn quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Dé Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. CHELSEA's Clemente Berger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Woraphod Pirunkunakorn in the 11th minute of play. Zézinho Hermes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Almir Ribeiro in the 12th minute of play. After 25 minutes, Woraphod Pirunkunakorn made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. CHELSEA's Clemente Berger tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Genílson de Toledo kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Clemente Berger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Woraphod Pirunkunakorn's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Nestor Vaz charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nestor Vaz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nestor Vaz hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Clemente Berger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Woraphod Pirunkunakorn in the 40th minute of the match. Clemente Berger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ernani Motta went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Woraphod Pirunkunakorn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Berger having to interfere. After the first half Cotinguiba Esporte Clube were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Almir Ribeiro was the one to do the kick off. Woraphod Pirunkunakorns short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Clemente Berger to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Dé Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Berger having to interfere. Iuri Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Cotinguiba Esporte Clube's Ralf Arula got a free kick in the 69th minute. In the 73rd minute Almir Ribeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zézinho Hermes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Glauco Neto fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cotinguiba Esporte Clube's protests and gave Glauco Neto a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Woraphod Pirunkunakorn put it in 0-7 from a short distance just to the right of Clemente Berger. Woraphod Pirunkunakorn blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Clemente Berger having to make a save. If Dé Tinoco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 92nd minute, Woraphod Pirunkunakorn reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Clemente Berger. The goal made the score 0-8. If Almir Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cotinguiba Esporte Clube's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
