The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Mazinho Maranhense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Harvey Kemp's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. 13 minutes in the game Joel Abad did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Emanuel Valle. Mazinho Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clóvis Zonta, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Emanuel Valle cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Mazinho Maranhense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mazinho Maranhense didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emanuel Valle went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 22 minutes, Harvey Kemp made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Through an outstanding action, after 42 minutes, Umberto Brito successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harvey Kemp was the one to do the kick off. Mazinho Maranhense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chico Mayol in the 61st minute of the match. When Harvey Kemp came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Straga Racha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harvey Kemp couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Catirina getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Dedé de Senna hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Catirina's Arlindo Cordeiro got a free kick in the 68th minute. Mazinho Maranhense made an important save on a dangerous shot by Clóvis Zonta in the 68th minute. The Catirina fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Straga Racha were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
