After having played for 25 minutes, Durval Maciel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LUMINA FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Durval Maciel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arrecife's Edson Rezende played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vivaldo de Mendonça in the 26th minute of play. Clemente Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Luís Paulo Lopez charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Paulo Lopez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Arrecife getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Luís Paulo Lopez hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clóvis Salgado to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 90th minute Clóvis Salgado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitinho Madureira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Edson Rezende didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for LUMINA FC.
