Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Augusto Soeiro in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Wiliam Varela recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 35 minutes, Wiliam Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bahia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wiliam Varela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute, Virgílio Cerezo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jaime Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 42nd minute by Pedro Augusto Guerra got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 45 played minutes Valloes got a freekick which was hit by Luís Eduardo Couto. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Valloes walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
