Roeland Euving fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fábio de Brito having to interfere. Luís Fábio de Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roeland Euving in the 10th minute of the match. Sabino de Alcântara made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Tião Motta sent off a good shot on target. Wanderson Teles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís Fábio de Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wanderson Macedo in the 16th minute of the match. Tião Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the match, São Judas's Tião Motta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sabino de Alcântara narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of São Judas booed when Nação Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Naldo Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wanderson Teles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. São Judas's Wanderson Teles suffered a fractured collar bone after 35 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Maurinho Galvão charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maurinho Galvão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. São Judas made a substitution. Murilo Queiroz replaced Wanderson Teles. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Vágner Aguiar managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Judas's supporters rose to their feet, but Vágner Aguiar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sabino de Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Murilo Queirozs short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Sabino de Alcântara to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 52nd minute, Naldo Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to São Judas getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Murilo Queiroz hit a great ball. 57 minutes into the match, Nação Flamengo's Roeland Euving sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Fábio de Brito narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 63rd minute, Murilo Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Murilo Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Luís Fábio de Brito stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roeland Euving's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Naldo Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Augusto Amorim during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 75th match minute, São Judas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Augusto Amorim to maneuver through the defense. São Judas's Luís Fábio de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wanderson Macedo in the 78th minute of play. Murilo Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, São Judas's Murilo Queiroz got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Nação Flamengo's Wanderson Macedo got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sabino de Alcântara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Murilo Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Tião Motta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Sabino de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nação Flamengo were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
