Ronaldo Sena started the match with the kick off. Severino Mineiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horácio Rosado, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horácio Rosado in the 13th minute of play forced Piraiauara SC's goalkeeper Severino Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardinho Palmeira who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Cesinha Baiano when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Severino Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dino Carioca in the 16th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the game, Cruz Azul F.C.'s Dino Carioca nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Severino Mineiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 20 minutes into the match, Cruz Azul F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ricardinho Palmeira came free, but Cesinha Baiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ricardinho Palmeira in the 22ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Cesinha Baiano, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 25th minute Horácio Rosado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severino Mineiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cesinha Baiano made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Ricardinho Palmeira sent off a good shot on target. Ricardinho Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesinha Baiano having to interfere. In the 35th minute Dino Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severino Mineiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Piraiauara SC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldo Sena came free, but Severino Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute Horácio Rosado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severino Mineiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 43 played minutes, Cruz Azul F.C.'s Luiz Eduardo Esteves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Severino Mineiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cruz Azul F.C. reached it. Severino Mineiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horácio Rosado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ricardinho Palmeira to make the kick off. Ricardinho Palmeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ricardinho Palmeira kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Horácio Rosado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Severino Mineiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 69 minutes into the match, Piraiauara SC's goalkeeper Severino Mineiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Horácio Rosado. The crowd rose to their feet as Dino Carioca kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Severino Mineiro. That made the score 0-4 in the 70 minute of play. In the 75thth minute of the game Ricardinho Palmeira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cruz Azul F.C.'s Cesinha Baiano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Piraiauara SC were furious when Tony Amorim was red carded, 84 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Tony Amorim hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Cruz Azul F.C.'s Ronaldo Sena slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Severino Mineiro. That made the score 0-6 after 87 minutes of play. When the match was over Cruz Azul F.C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Piraiauara SC throughout the match.
