The crowd rose to their feet as Paranhos's Célio de Almeida slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Frédson Alvarenga. That made the score 1-0 after 6 minutes of play. In the 9th minute, Catingal SS's Ademar Velloso seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ademar Velloso the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Catingal SS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ademar Velloso had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Catingal SS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Paranhos:s goal. Vitinho Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Frédson Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Frédson Alvarenga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vitinho Tepedino in the 17th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vitinho Tepedino got free with Frédson Alvarenga in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Paranhos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio de Almeida was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frédson Alvarenga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Frédson Alvarenga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitinho Tepedino, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Frédson Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Cardoso in the 93rd minute of play. After having played for 95 minutes, Vitinho Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paranhos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vitinho Tepedino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vitinho Tepedino struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Frédson Alvarenga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paranhos. Paranhos's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
