Rubens de Alcântara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorginho Coutinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Zé Roberto Almeida stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Doni Santos's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Dida Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. União Guaraituba's supporters rose to their feet, but Dida Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubens de Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Doni Santos was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, União Guaraituba's goal looked a bit too open when Doni Santos came free, but Zé Roberto Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorginho Coutinho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rubens de Alcântara read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Rubens de Alcântara was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Uni Souza Futebol Clube's zone, Dida Amaral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubens de Alcântara came out of the goal and Dida Amaral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Uni Souza Futebol Clube's Rubens de Alcântara got control of the ball when Jorginho Coutinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Dida Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
