Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Válbson Duarte started the match with the kick off. If Geraldo Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 6 played minutes CRUZEIRO got a freekick which was hit by Elano Sanches. In the 9th minute Geraldo Motta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafinha Meireles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Válbson Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Rui Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the CRUZEIRO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Dantas couldn't finish the play. Válbson Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafinha Meireles having to interfere. Marquinhos Simões hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Válbson Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rafinha Meireles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Válbson Duarte in the 35th minute of play. Paulo José Baptista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Válbson Duarte in the 42nd minute of play forced CRUZEIRO's goalkeeper Rafinha Meireles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. CRUZEIRO's Rafinha Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geraldo Motta in the 43rd minute of play. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind CRUZEIRO's goalkeeper Rafinha Meireles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rui Dantas made a kick off. Rui Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Sabóia having to interfere. After having played for 56 minutes, Paulo José Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CRUZEIRO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo José Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Geraldo Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antônio Sabóia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Dantas in the 64th minute of the match. Geraldo Motta in the 76thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rafinha Meireles, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Geraldo Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, CRUZEIRO's Elano Amaral got a free kick in the 78th minute. If Paulo José Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 85 played minutes Matriz got a freekick which was hit by Albertino Martins. Rui Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Sabóia having to interfere. Paulo José Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Antônio Sabóia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Matriz defense, Paulo José Baptista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antônio Sabóia. The Matriz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antônio Sabóia should have stopped the shot.
