Gaviões Indomáveis FC's Cláudio Fernandez was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but José Maria Baiano in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 16 minutes into the game, Gustavo de Andrade was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GremioViamao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gaviões Indomáveis FC the free kick. Gaviões Indomáveis FC's Armando de Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Simões in the 32nd minute of play. Fred Favoretto charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fred Favoretto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Fred Favoretto kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. After having played for 54 minutes, Gustavo Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gaviões Indomáveis FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustavo Hoffmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Armando de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Simões in the 63rd minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, GremioViamao's goal looked a bit too open when Gustavo Hoffmann came free, but José Maria Baiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustavo Hoffmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The penalty shot was made by Cláudio Fernandez, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of GremioViamao's José Maria Baiano. 1-4. Gaviões Indomáveis FC played a much better game than GremioViamao and deserved their victory. The GremioViamao players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
