Kaká da Mata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wágner Berger in the 7th minute of the match. Ademir Mesquita was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 11 minutes into the game, Real AIK FC's Flávio dos Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardinho Lago made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Flávio dos Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulinho Vargas scored 1-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kaká da Mata, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wágner Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká da Mata having to interfere. Paulinho Vargas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wágner Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká da Mata having to interfere. Kaká da Mata stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wágner Berger's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Kaká da Mata made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Ernani de Almeida sent off a good shot on target. Rodolfo Gerber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ricardinho Lago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulinho Vargas got free with Kaká da Mata in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Haroldo Catarinense made a kick off. Real AIK FC's Haroldo Catarinense got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paulinho Vargas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká da Mata having to interfere. When Flávio dos Santos came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Real AIK FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Flávio dos Santos couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute, Grêmio Olegarense's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Flávio dos Santos fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Haroldo Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flávio dos Santos got free with Ricardinho Lago in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wágner Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká da Mata having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Wágner Berger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kaká da Mata was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. The supporters of Real AIK FC booed when Grêmio Olegarense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see Real AIK FC's Virgílio Sá in action when he in the 97th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The Real AIK FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Grêmio Olegarense from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
