Juninho Hoffmann got his second yellow card in the match during the 16th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Cordeiros FC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Juninho Hoffmann hit a great ball. Hélder Negri received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Laerte Martins came out and tried to block the shot, but Hélder Negri slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 20th minute. Laerte Martins made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when José Paulo Amorim sent off a good shot on target. In the 25th minute, Hélder Negri reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Laerte Martins. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 29th minute, Campo de Marte's José Paulo Amorim dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. 32 minutes into the game, Campo de Marte's Hélder Negri nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Laerte Martins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Luiz Paulo Tavares made in the 37th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Campo de Marte's Célio Zonta. In the 39th minute Hélder Negri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laerte Martins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laerte Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hélder Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Campo de Marte fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when Campo de Marte's José Paulo Amorim looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Josué Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kiko da Cunha in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

After 53 played minutes, Campo de Marte's Doni Cearense shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Laerte Martins came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Campo de Marte reached it. Cordeiros FC's Laerte Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo Amorim in the 55th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Ademir Prado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laerte Martins. Cordeiros FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ademir Prado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. After some careless play in the Cordeiros FC defense, José Paulo Amorim kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Laerte Martins. The Cordeiros FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Laerte Martins should have stopped the shot. Laerte Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Paulo Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Kiko da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes into the match, Cordeiros FC's goal looked a bit too open when José Paulo Amorim came free, but Laerte Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Paulo Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Laerte Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laércio Fonseca hit a great ball. 87 minutes into the match, Cordeiros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Negri came free, but Laerte Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Paulo Amorim in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laerte Martins prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
